On September 22, 2004, at 2:15 pm local time, Oceanic flight 815 left Sydney Airport from gate 23 carrying 324 passengers, scheduled to arrive at LAX in Los Angeles at 10:42.
8 years ago today, we saw Dr. Jack Shephard’s eye open. He was lying in the jungle, bloodied and disoriented. He had been a passenger on Oceanic 815, which had just crashed. We didn’t know where he was. We didn’t know what caused the plane to go down. The show, the journey, the phenomenon had begun.
“We must have been at about 40,000 feet when it happened. Hit an air pocket. Dropped, maybe, 200 feet.”
